Among other projects he and his team have been responsible for the pitch at Khalifa International Stadium. Khalifa International Stadium reopened in May 2017 when they hosted the 2017 Emir Cup final. During the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Khalifa International Stadium will host matches up to the quarter-finals.
The grass which has been laid at Khalifa International Stadium was developed in Qatar at our turf nursery, and is our signature pitch which has been tested numerous times for playability, durability and others factors.”
Yasser Al Mulla and his team performed 14 tests including how fast the ball rolls across the surface, the height at which it bounces, and other elements where they asked players for their opinion and feedback on the pitch of Khalifa International Stadium. At their research and development centre at the turf nursery they tested 24 different types of grass. Their selected type of turf is ideal for the weather conditions they have in Qatar.
