“We do not have any stadiums that meet UEFA standards in western France. We want to do everything so that this stadium is the best in France and one of the best in Europe. It is my duty to equip this large club with a stadium and complex that meets its requirements and ambitions.”
Club President Waldermar Kita
Stade de la Beaujoire was opened in 1984 ahead of the UEFA European Championships in France. FC Nantes now hopes that a similar agreement can be reached to host some of the football matches for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The entire project will cost around €200 million. When the new stadium will be completed, plans are to demolish la Beaujoire.
