Tottenham introduces audio description for stadium murals

Tottenham Hotspur FC has introduced audio description for several murals outside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, becoming the first club in the UK to apply this accessibility feature to stadium artwork.

Murals celebrating Heung-Min Son, Harry Kane and Ledley King now include QR-codes that allow supporters to access detailed audio descriptions of the artwork. The narration has been written and recorded by Daniel Wynne, Tottenham’s audio description matchday commentator, providing visually impaired fans with a richer understanding of the imagery and stories behind the murals.

The initiative has been delivered in partnership with the David Katz Foundation, a charity dedicated to improving access to sport and culture for people with visual impairments. By integrating audio storytelling into public art around the stadium precinct, the project aims to ensure that the club’s visual identity and heritage are accessible to a wider audience.

The feature was made available for supporters to try ahead of Tottenham’s Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace, marking another step in the club’s broader efforts to enhance accessibility and inclusivity within the stadium environment.

Estádio do Dragão renovation to resume after season

FC Porto will resume renovation works at the Estádio do Dragão following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season, continuing the club’s multi-phase modernisation programme aimed at upgrading infrastructure, services and fan experience across the venue.

The upcoming phase will focus on enhancing stadium operations and commercial offerings, including the expansion of hospitality areas and the optimisation of underused spaces within the venue. As part of the project, the club plans to grow its premium hospitality concept portfolio, creating additional high-end matchday experiences under the ‘FC Porto Premium Experiences’ framework.

The redevelopment programme also includes further digital transformation within the stadium environment. Planned upgrades involve new technologies designed to streamline operations and improve the overall matchday journey, alongside new platforms intended to integrate ticketing, membership and hospitality services into a more unified digital ecosystem.

Earlier phases of the renovation have already delivered several improvements at the stadium, including upgrades to lighting systems, refurbished hospitality spaces and a modernised ticketing system. With construction set to resume after the current campaign, the next stage of works is expected to further strengthen the Estádio do Dragão’s position as one of Portugal’s leading football venues while preparing the stadium for future international events.

RC Toulon outlines vision for new stadium

French rugby club RC Toulon has presented plans for a new stadium to replace its current home, Stade Mayol, arguing that a full redevelopment of the historic venue would face major technical and urban constraints.

The proposed project would deliver a new stadium with a capacity of 18,000 to 20,000 seats at an estimated cost of around €200m. The venue is planned to include four covered stands, between 3,000 and 4,000 VIP seats, and 50–80 hospitality suites, alongside year-round facilities such as shops, a restaurant, a club museum and a convention centre for events and exhibitions.

The board  of the club explains that the current 17,500-capacity Stade Mayol is difficult to expand due to its location in a dense residential area and limited hospitality infrastructure. Two potential waterfront sites located around 600 metres from the existing stadium are currently under study as possible locations for the new development.

The vision positions the future stadium as a multi-use venue capable of hosting rugby, concerts, exhibitions and other sporting events, supporting the club’s long-term growth while maintaining its strong connection to the city of Toulon.

Cadiz CF signs new stadium naming-rights partnership

Cádiz CF has secured a new stadium naming-rights agreement with financial services company JP Financial, marking a new commercial chapter for the club’s home venue. Under the deal, the stadium will be renamed JP Financial Estadio for the next five years.

The agreement covers the club’s 20,724-capacity stadium, previously known as Nuevo Mirandilla, and forms part of Cádiz’s broader strategy to strengthen commercial revenues linked to its stadium infrastructure. The partnership will also extend to the planned events centre that is set to become part of the wider Sportech City Cádiz development project.

Beyond branding rights, the collaboration includes community-focused initiatives aimed at promoting financial education and improving access to financial knowledge within the local area. For Cádiz CF, the agreement represents another step in expanding the stadium’s commercial role while reinforcing its position as a multi-use venue within the city.

Cleveland Guardians adopt Raven platform for venue operations

The Cleveland Guardians have partnered with Raven Controls to implement its incident management and operational oversight platform at Progressive Field. The move aims to strengthen coordination and situational awareness across game-day and major event operations at the stadium.

Raven’s platform is designed to provide command teams with real-time operational visibility, enabling structured incident logging, clearer accountability and improved communication between departments. The system also supports detailed post-event reporting, helping venue teams review incidents, analyse trends and refine operational procedures.

With the Guardians becoming the tenth club in Major League Baseball to adopt the platform, the partnership reflects the growing use of digital tools to manage increasingly complex stadium environments. By integrating incident reporting and operational workflows into a single system, the technology aims to help venue teams make faster and more informed decisions during events.

For stadium operators, such platforms are becoming increasingly important as venues host larger crowds, more varied events and heightened expectations around safety, coordination and overall fan experience.
