At the heart of Hoffenheim’s approach is the “Movement” strategy, which goes far beyond growth for its own sake. Every decision is guided by a commitment to social and environmental responsibility, putting innovation and sustainability firmly at the core of the club’s operations.

One clear example is waste management. With support from PreZero, TSG Hoffenheim has become the first certified Zero Waste stadium in Europe, achieving over 90% recycling through smart sorting systems and reusable solutions – showing that zero waste and zero compromise can go hand in hand.

TSG is also taking carbon reduction seriously. By joining the Race to Zero, the club has pledged to cut emissions in half by 2030 and reach net zero by 2040. Green electricity, LED lighting, and smart building technologies are just a few of the measures already making a difference.

Sustainable mobility is another key focus. From including public transport in match tickets to installing EV charging stations and launching carpooling platforms, Hoffenheim is rethinking how fans get to and from the stadium as part of its climate strategy.

A huge thank you to Anneke Siebert and Stefan Wagner for giving ESSMA members a first-hand look at how meaningful change happens from the inside out.
