PSG Seeking Fan Feedback for New Stadium

Paris Saint‑Germain (PSG) has reached out to more than 90,000 fans to gauge their views on a possible move away from the Parc des Princes and the design of a future stadium.  Two potential sites in the Paris suburbs — Massy and Poissy — are under consideration, with capacities of between 60,000 and 90,000. The survey covers location preference, transport links, matchday and non-matchday experiences including shops and restaurants, seat comfort, connectivity, family zones, sound systems and giant screens. The club’s research follows feasibility studies and could influence whether the current stadium is renovated or a new purpose-built venue is constructed.

Spain: One of Europe’s Largest Ice Rinks Returns to the Metropolitano

This winter, Madrid’s Estadio Metropolitano—home of Atlético Madrid—will once more host the “Madrid On Ice” event, transforming its pitch area into a 4,200 m² ice rink where up to 1,500 skaters can enjoy the surface at any one time.  Running from 22 December to 11 January, the experience promises DJ sets, light shows, children’s workshops, visits from Santa and a gaming zone. While slightly smaller than last year’s 4,760 m², the event retains its scale-and-ambience appeal, and ticket pricing has been reduced from €20 to €18.60, with special adult companion tickets priced at €7.60. Advance ticket discounts were available for Atlético members.

Estadio Gran Canaria Embarks on Road to World Cup

The renovation of the Estadio Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands is gaining momentum as the venue prepares to support the region’s bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2030.  The redesign – by architects L35 – focuses on sustainability with passive ventilation, moisture-harvesting systems (captabrumas), photovoltaic roofing and rainwater collection integrated into the design. Structural innovations include a roof system with an outer compression ring supported by 44 columns and inner tension rings, symbolising an architectural “spoked wheel”. The stadium is conceived not only as a sports facility but also as a social and cultural hub for the Canary Islands, capable of attracting international visitors.

FIFA Partners With Union to Promote Safe Working Conditions

FIFA has signed a five-year agreement with the Building and Wood Workers’ International (BWI) to ensure decent and safe working conditions for workers involved in stadium construction and renovation linked to its tournaments. The framework includes joint labour inspections, training for workers’ representatives, time-bound corrective action plans for exploitation cases, and annual reporting through FIFA’s Human Rights & Sustainability Sub-Committee. The deal applies to upcoming tournaments including the World Cups in 2026, 2030 and 2034. The BWI had previously criticised FIFA for insufficient follow-up after the 2022 tournament in Qatar.

Naples Sets Out Principles for Maradona Revamp

The municipality of Naples has outlined key principles for the redevelopment of the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona: modernisation, accessibility, sustainability and community integration. Proposals include new hospitality areas, enhanced underground parking, green spaces and use of alternative materials in construction. Although a new 65,000-seat stadium in the Poggioreale neighbourhood is reportedly under consideration, the current venue of about 54,000 capacity remains the focus for international-event readiness. Napoli club officials have expressed concerns that the municipality’s terms may not ensure long-term financial viability.
