Nottingham Forest Unveils Ambitious City Ground Expansion
Nottingham Forest has revealed an ambitious new vision for expanding the City Ground, potentially increasing capacity to around 52,000 spectators. The plans, presented at open meetings with fans and residents, go well beyond earlier proposals for a 35,000-seat stadium already approved by Rushcliffe Borough Council. If the latest concept gains formal planning consent, work could begin in summer 2026, starting with an expansion to 45,000 seats.
A subsequent phase would see the Peter Taylor Stand enlarged significantly, pushing capacity even higher. The design, drawn up by a team experienced in major stadium projects, reflects owner Evangelos Marinakis’s long-term goal of creating a venue befitting Forest’s growing status. Local and regional authorities are supportive, seeing the modernised stadium as integral to wider development in the Trent Sports Quarter. The project is positioned as a transformative investment for both the club and the city, helping secure its future in top-flight football.

FIFA Women’s Champions Cup to Conclude in London
The inaugural FIFA Women’s Champions Cup will culminate in London, with the semi-finals played at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium and the third-place play-off and final at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.
